On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, setting off the Protestant Reformation. Today, Protestants from around the globe visit Germany to celebrate Reformation Day on October 31st by participating in the many events around the country—especially in Martin Luther’s hometown and final resting place of Wittenberg. In 2017, Globus will feature a very special itinerary that marks the Jubilee of the Reformation. On this 11-day journey, which starts in Berlin and ends in Munich, you’ll visit key Luther sites in Wittenberg, Eisleben, Erfurt, Eisenach, and many more. 2020 - Oberammergau Passion Play
The quaint Bavarian village of Oberammergau is world famous for the spectacular Passion Play performed by its residents just once every decade. Keeping a pledge made nearly 400 years ago, this reenactment of the crucifixion of Christ preserves the health and well-being of Oberammergau residents to this day. Located about 60 miles southwest of Munich, Oberammergau is a peaceful village surrounded by majestic mountains and picturesque meadows.
